Welcome - Introduction
The help forums can be heavy traffic at times, so the idea is to keep your related problems all in one thread in the correct forum without cross-posting anywhere else. Doing otherwise may have your thread removed or unanswered. Please read this thread and search the forums for your problem/resolution prior to posting. Usually, an answer may have already been posted for common problems or questions.
Forums/Site Etiquette
Before we begin in any forum, lets keep in mind that a well mannered, well behaved site acts like a magnet for experienced users who are happy to help folks who are new. However, poorly behaved forums with repetitive topics will not only drive them away, but also new members. Whether or not people keep coming back for quality posting is up to each of us.
Getting Help: What you need to know
To help us help you from the moment you post your new thread, its best to provide as much detail about the problems you are having. To do that a minimum of what should be posted is:
Mention the model year of your El Camino and engine.
Anything you have done to solve or create the problem.
How long have you had the problem.
When does the problem occur.

Title your thread appropriately, and not with "I need help!"
Mostly new threads here are seeking help anyway, so we know you need assistance. Instead of calling your thread "help,"
title it accordingly to your problem like: "Won't start cold."

Giving Help - Being a Team Member
One of the most important features of El Camino Central and The National El Camino Owners Association is the reaching influence on El Camino/Sprint/Caballero owners worldwide. Many folks come here seeking help without thought to help others out afterwards. It is our common goal to progress both in expertise and knowledge, so if you found a way to fix something, or a tip/trick that hasn't been posted before, please by all means post it so that others may benefit from your experience and knowledge. After all, we're a global family. Plus, it gives you the chance to give back to the ECC/NECOA community.
Appropriate behavior and content
Profanity, racial slurs, personal attacks, and destructive postings will not be tolerated in any form. Whether it is content or language. And acronyms that refer to prohibited or offensive word types are also not acceptable on this Forum. Above all keep in mind that this is a family oriented site. The offending poster will be notified one time only that the appropriate action has be taken, including but not limited to the editing or removal of the offending material. The second offense may result in a probationary period of one week, or immediate termination, (action taken is at the moderator's discretion.) The third will result in immediate termination and the banning of said account.
How Do I Make My First Post?
The easiest way to get started is to go to the "FORUMS" Page. You can select "FORUMS" from the top ribbon of the HOME page (the page that opens after you log in to elcaminocentral.com). The "FORUMS" button is on the very left side of the second ribbon from the page top. When you click on the button, a page listing all of the Forums and sub-forums of the website will open. Scroll down to the ""For New Members Only" Forum, and click on the heading. That will open the Forum, and you should see a button "New Thread". (a "Thread" is a subject matter posting that starts a discussion on the topic, such as "My LS1 Overheats" - a "Post" is a comment made within the subject matter heading that may offer a solution or ask another question.) Click on that button and you will be able to title your introductory message, and then write an introduction telling the members briefly about yourself. This not only introduces you to our membership, but also serves to make you more familiar and comfortable with posting on the Forum. Go here to open the "For New Member Only" Forum: http://www.elcaminocentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13.

From the "FORUMS" page, you can scroll to any of the Forums or sub-forums, click on the titled subject that interests you, and open the discussions. If you want to post your own comments or ask a question, there will be a button "Post Reply" that will open a dialog box where you can make your comment or ask a question. Again, you must title your post before it will be accepted. Also, you must have 25 or more posts to make a new Thread in the For Sale sub-forum. You do not need the posting requirements (25 posts) to post about "Parts Wanted".
From the "HOME" page, you can look at the most recent 20 or so Threads, ordered from the most recent to the oldest. The age of the oldest post shown here depends on how active the website is at any given time. If you find a Thread of interest, simple click on the Heading to open the thread. Once in the Thread, you may close it by clicking on your "back" arrow or button, or you can open a dialog box for making a post within that Thread by clicking on the "Post Reply" button. You need to know that Threads started within the "General BS Files" do NOT show up on the "HOME" page. In general, our rules require that Threads made on our website must be El Camino related - one exception to that rule is Threads made in the "Other Vehicle Discussion".
If you wish to include photos of your El Camino in your introduction, which we strongly encourage, please read some simple how-to guidelines here:

Also, after you make your introductory post, please send me your complete mailing address and I’ll send you a couple of our NECOA window decals. Thanks, and I hope this brief tutorial helps you to become a very active and contributing member of our Association................Ken Rogers, NECOA National Director
