I am considering purchasing a certain 64 el camino. where were the rust prone areas on these and what other quirks did these have. this was a powerglide bench seat columshift model. any suggestions ?

First check the frame over completely for rust/damage from end to end, side to side, then go to the bed/smuggler's box. Those IMO are the worst places to have rust. If those areas look good, check around the front and back windows, radiator support (battery area) and the rocker panels. If it's a "unmolested" (otherwise known as unrestored) '64 elky you can expect to find some rust in the floorboards, rear 1/4's, bottom of the doors, and front fenders behind the front wheels. Good luck!
