Default visor help

one of my visors doesnt seem to stay up against the roof, i have to tuck it into the headliner molding to get it to stay there. I tried putting some electrical tape around the rod the visor attaches to but that actaully made it worse....any ideas?

On my 82 Elky there is a small Phillips head screw on the back side of the sunvisor where the rod goes into it. If you tighten this screw down some it should tighten up the sunvisor too and keep it from falling down.

You need to replace the tensioning tubes (that's what I call them anyway.) They are the plastic sleeves that slip over the hinge arm and provide resistance for the visor to stay up. I found a few a couple of years ago at a Pontiac dealer... NO you can''t have mine! Just call around, usually some GM dealer will have some in stock.

I ended up ordering the "tensioning tubes" from elcamino store and they fixed the problem, less than 5 bucks to fix both visors.

Replacing the bushing is an easy job. Loosen the screw on the back of the visor, and pull the visor off the rod. Pull the old bushing ( what's left of it) out of the visor with a pair of needle nose pliers. Push the new bushing in, and re-install. Tighten the screw to get the visor performance you want. 5 minutes max for both sides.
