Hi-
I picked up a really nice bench seat today so I have to change my floor shift back to column in my 1970. It currently has a tilt column with the hole for the shifter, and, if I twist it it twists a piece under the hood so I know I have the basics. My question is what do I need for parts? I know I need the shift lever. any other parts in the upper column that I may need? The lower column to transmission linkage. is there a steel linkage or is it a cable. Are these parts readily available? Any help or information is greatly appreciated. Thanks Ed

There is a rod that goes from the column down and connects to another rod that goes from the frame over to the trans shifter bracket. The lower rod pivets with the help of a frame mounted bracket. It sort of looks like an upside down "T".Hope that my explanation is good enough.

my short answer -- no
The floor shifter would typically be mounted right where the seat covers the hump - right at arm's length. Not saying it can't be done, but it would have to be fabbed up from scratch. Then, from another perspective - how could you seat someone in the center on the bench when you have a shifter where their feet would be?
