I did multiple searches and came up with little to nothing. I'm trying to find the number of 1983 Super Sports produced. I found that there were 24,000 total elks produced in 1983, if that was even correct, but how many of those were SS? I'm guessing all SS had this for 1983, but I have Cruise Control and A/C.
I have an "Accumulative Shipments Report" for the 1983 model year of El Caminos that I received when I purchased a GM Media Archive information packet on my own 1983 Super Sport El Camino. According to the report: 19,513 El Caminos were produced for the 1983 model year, and only 2,914 Super Sport El Caminos were produced...a fairly low number. Congrats on your Elky...1983 is, in my opinion, one of the more desireable years for a 5th Gen Super Sport. 1983 was the last year that you could order an El Camino as a "Super Sport" (RPO code Z15) with the large door and tailgate decals. Starting in 1984 it was no longer called a Super Sport (although it was still RPO Z15); Chevy changed it to a "SS Decor Package" and all exterior Super Sport decals were removed...the only way to tell it was a Super Sport was by the dash emblem...which they eventually got rid of too in 1986 (I think). I believe this was done so that the Z15 Super Sport did not compete with the Choo Choo Customs SS.
