Hello everyone! My name is Gerald and i ive in Wagoner, Oklahoma. I recent bought my 76 El Camino and I plan on rebuilding her. This is going to be my toy for a really long time. I actually stumbled onto your website by accident looking for parts. So here I am and I'll put pictures of her up here. I will warn you she is rough. but thats what happens when it sits for 10 years and no one cares for it. Any way off i go...

Thumbs up Welcome and Congrats

Gerald,
You've found the right site, LOTS of good info available here. You will soon learn that parts will be a large challenge for your 4th gen. Ebay will become your friend, get some saved searches set up and check them daily. Start haunting local junk yards looking for not only Elkys but similar year GM cars, A bodies I believe they are called. EC parts is also a good source, Rick owns several 4th gens and is a wealth of knowledge. Develop your plan so you'll know what you are looking for, no sense buying parts you may not need, they're hard enough to find.
You just missed a great opportunity to meet, greet, and learn at the Texas Invitational in Belton, but don't worry, it'll even be better next year.
Post pics, these guys love pics. Ask questions, you'll be amazed at the wealth of knowledge here.
Again, WELCOME, enjoy your new project.

WELCOME to a great site and good luck with your 76, I almost bought one here but found out parts where hard to find for the 4th year generation and then really just got lucky when my 80 Caballero came up since it was not even a half mile from home. Anyway I'm sure you probably knew that the parts would be hard to find for this year car. Of course if it's just going to be your daily driver, it should not be a issue. Lots of knowledge on here so just ask and someone can answer your question and / or find your part. Have a great trip. Michael in Virginia

Gerald,

Welcome from your neighbor to the south. Glad to have you on board. I've had a couple of '76 & '77 Elkies over the years, so I know the troubles you may have finding parts, but as Bill said, it can be done!

Talking a little sadness and a little luck

well after months of trying and going over my budget several times ( i even emptied my penny jar) the 76 would costmore to fix than to find another and buy it.... so i parted it out selling the pieces to others who needed them for their resto.( i was asked several times why i was doing this) but with time i saved the procedes until i recieved no more hits for parts and scrapped the rest..( before any one explodes...i cried and wouldnt go to the scrap yard. my brothers had to take it) so thats the sadness part..now for the luck... i was searching the local craigslist and sprint poped up...up until this point i didnt know the elkys had a sister car..so you could imagine my surprise when i looked at it for the first time.. for about 2 grand i got my new sprint and its from the same generation so im super stoked about that . and the guy even gave me someparts he picked up to fix it! ony the drivers side front fender has any really noticable damage wich is a small crinkel..anyway i amgonna save this one even if i have to live in it !
