Does any 3rd Gen owner have the kick panel speakers installed? I'm looking at these from OPG. With 6-1/2" 180 watt Kenwood speakers they should sound pretty good.
I'd also like to know if anyone prefers the dash speakers. Mine are disconnected. Since the music would bounce off the windshield right in front of you it seems like it would be a good spot for speakers. Are they just too small to put out any quality sound? This is my plan: kick panel speakers two 6x9's mounted behind the seat 8" powered bazooka. I don't listen to any hip hop or bass stuff. So I don't want anything crazy and I'm not going to turn it up insanely loud so other drivers can hear it. I just want a nice clear system I can enjoy with some good bottom end. I don't know much about car audio so any input will be appreciated. |

I've got those... Those are the custom autosound kick panels. They don't sound as good as you might think. It's still an improvement over the dash speakers by far. But you might do better to buy just the bare panels and choose your own speakers for it. I wish I had gone that route. The speakers they provide are rather cheap.
You can also get them just about everywhere else much cheaper.

I got em too. Like ssr says, sound OK but needs more. I got a pair of decent dash speakers and 2 6x9's behind the seats and an amp. Overall good enough for my ears and loud enough to kill the wind and exhaust noise.

Cube,
I thought about the same thing, but I ended up using 4X6 plate speakers mounted under the dash. Any 4X6 speakers should fit up there with a little bit of "rigging". I didn't really like the look of the OPG panels, and I definitely didn't like someone else deciding which speakers I would be using. I decided to get Infinity speakers and an Alpine amp on Amazon for a few hundred bucks, and I couldn't be happier. Here's what I got. My end goal was an audio system that was full and rich. I too am not interested in a ton of bass, and the 6X9s provide just enough bottom end to make it sound good. The amplifier puts just enough power to each speaker to really make it scream. And having an amp on component speakers like that is great because they don't distort at all when you turn up the volume. I actually just posted a thread with my 6X9 speaker box if you want to take a look. Good luck with the project!
