Hello from Central Texas
Found this site today and thought I would share my El Camino. It has only one job to do and that is race. I bought it from a friend who,s health is failing and could not afford it any more. It has been a drag car since the mid 80's and though may changes.
It needed some repairs and and change a few things the way I what to run it. Now to the goodies. Back haft car, 4-link, narrowed 12 bolt (5.13's) 540 ci with 2 foggers, BTE Denabear case powerglide w/1.80 straight cut gears. I have seen it run 5.40's in the 1/8 mile. I have removed all of the lettering, going to get a 6 inch cowl induction hood from Unlimited Products. I have owned it for a little of a year and finely took it to Little River on a Friday night 2 weeks ago to test a couple of things but could not really hook up due to all the street tires cars running (we were the only one with slicks on and it was cold). My first pass in 15 years. Can not wait for it to warm now. Here are a few pics if I figure this out.

I am from Waco. I plan on making it to the race in May. Was going to try and make it in 2012 but was just not ready (busy working and playing with my other car). Texaselcamino: I keep the car at my shop in Hewitt, if you want to check it out let me know.
