Default What do you guys think of this tire setup??

I'm going to need tires someday and this is too sweet to pass up. What do you think 15's in the back and 14's in the front? If so which 14's for the front or go 14's all the way around?

Robert,

First off...Happy New Year my man !!! Secondly, thought you were gonna lose the Moparian roadrunner...

That said...the ultimate deciding factor here is what do YOU think of them? I love 'em...but that's me...and I happen to think that aside from the rally rim setup, the next best thing is the old Cragar spoke or these slots...but that would be on my 72

I have seen so many of the 5th Gens pull off the "new wheel" setups so well...and it's tough for my minds eye to envision the old school look on them now. It's all about you my brotha

Chris

I personally love those wheels and tires, and, thats a great deal, if I were in a pos to get them, they would have been sold, 15s back, 14s front. Love that retro look.

It's going I just saw a great phrase now I need to find it again. I love my Irocs and I like these My reasoning is sooner or later I'm going to need tires and I can buy this setup now cheaper than the next set of tires for my Irocs . It's a no lose situation and trip people out changing them every couple of months for a different look. I think the rims would look nice with my setup . The irocs are 16's and with 14's on the front and 15's on the back it should give it a lowered front look without compromising the original front end suspension.

You can't beat that deal for sure! Those are actually just what I've been looking for, but can't swing it right now.
I think they'd look fantastic on your 87, Robert!! With the 14s on front and the 15s on back or even the 14s all the way around. You could have some fun with those-switching them up every now and then just for the heck of it. I say go for it!!

Just watch out for the age of the tires. I know here in Vegas I have to change tires every few years just because they get hard with the heat and lose grip.

Personally I like all 4 the same size so I can rotate them at every oil change. Easy to get 50-60,000 miles out of a set.

As much as I love those rims, there is one problem with them, my dad had some for years, and they have to be polished, A LOT! They get dull very quick and then they are the worst looking rim ever, If I had the $$ now, I wouldnt care, I love em!

These are from RTT Todd a member who lives close to me these are like off the rack I have seen them on his truck and a couple of weeks ago at his house. This is a sure no lose propitiation if there not sold. I should have taken them the day he posted them. They look better in real life than the picture makes them look. He just wanted to go with a different set up and sell them at a good price for one of the members here that can't afford a new package. He's just an all around nice guy.

Happy New Years Mike

P.S. I received the NOS original; AC Delco TPS switch and the spring tension inside the switch is stiffer than the aftermarket one if that would make a difference but sitting them side by side the plungers and overall length look the same except the original has a brown plunger. It came with a spring and metal actuating rod that was the same length as the one in the carb now but I put the new one in with the new spring. I'm going out right now to reinstall the carb. I was going to test it first before bolting everything down but if it's still not adjusting correct there's nothing I can do but=t send the carb. out to Mtn. Man and do an exchange so the one here is gone forever.

So anybody out there don't even try to take these tires there mine.

Same here on size but I can live with it at that price, so I will have to rotate them with my iroc's every couple of months

Something else to consider- if you ever decide to go to bigger disk brakes- front or rear- then these wheels might not fit. Just something to factor into your long range plans.

As for the TPS, I'm hopeful that the stronger spring makes a difference. It's the only thing mechanically that makes any sense, unless the ratio of resistance vs movement of the rod is different in the AC part vs the aftermarket ( which it could be). Either one should make a difference I think.
