pulled apart both the v8 and v6 distributor and niether one has a reluctor or anything that looks like it. tell me more lol

The pick up has screws holding it to the housing...the wheel with the pointed tips is the part hou need to swap to the other housing...it may have come out when you pulled the cenfer shaft....if possible you really need to put hp some pics of what your talking about...

actually the v6 had a 3 pointed star and the v8 had a 6 pointed star. but i swapped them out along with the pick up coil and now im back to no spark. so......bad pick up coil?

Yes blue it sounds like that could be it...unfortunately there isn't a way to check it that i know of.

if you put a ohm meter on both of them,,and turn the shaft you may see a difference,,
i think i read if you turn them fast enough it will make ac current????
if its open or shorted it could be bad,, i just cant remember, i'll check the book tho..

I don't know how that could work. 1 point needed for each cylinder. I don't understand how a reluctor with 6 points on it could run an 8 cylinder engine since the module fires the coil when the voltage spike goes from + to -
