Nah not dangerous. LPG is very common in European countries.

I think it's pretty cool in the sense of "I'm doing it just because I can." Other than that, I don't see the point.

propane is quite safe, we used to have an old international farm truck that ran on propane, cheaper than gas, ran great and the oil looked like brand new even after several years without an oil change. but it don't appear that the tank is strapped down? and they have deleted the factory gas tank also, i think the price is a little high for what is there. looks like a source of fifth gen parts

looks bolted at the bottom. They could have at least spray painted the tank.

to correctly run a gas engine on propane, the valves need a different angle ground. If not, the propane burns MUCH hotter and will burn the valves quickly. There are some cities that convert most of their fleet cars from gasoline to CNG. It's cheaper to run and fewer emissions. Just pray that the tank doesn't get punctured. It ain't purty. And jcote2010.. you say "redneck" like its a bad thing. I wear that badge with Honor, Sir. you're prolly on the wrong forum if you have a problem with rednecks!

Oh.. no offense taken. I'm to redneck to be that thin skinned. When you look like I do, you need elephant skin. No matter.. I still make fun of people cause they don't expect it. When you're an anomally and you know it, It can be very liberating!

Back in the eighties the Canadian Forces bean counters decided to changeover all the civvie pattern vehicles to propane. It had +/- points. Yes, it burned a lot cleaner and the oil indicated that fact. That, I think was the only plus. On the neg side, once away from home base there were few outlets to refuel unless you were near campgrounds and RV dealers. Second, unless you changed the fuel filter religiously, they made the vehs a bitch to start in cold weather. Hence in Canada this experiment lasted only about 4 years or so. For we gearheads the biggest drawback was that due to the cooler burning process of LPG one would lose as much as 15% HP. I purchased a Dodge van a from Gov surplus and converted back to gas with no problem. Bought it, had 90000 KM on odometer, drove it pulling a 28' trailer and sold it 5 years later showing 160000 KM. No problem over the period other than U joints. There are still a few propane vehs around but not seen too much in winter.
