Sacramento club meeting in May

Now that we have the Pismo meeting set, we also have a Nor-Cal run in the works.

We are working on getting together for a run to Old Saramento in May. Chris P. is checking out accommodations to stay overnight in Old Sacramento. This would be a great opportunity for the extreme Northern California members and the region 17 members to join in on the hestivities.

Proposed dates are May 18 and 19th.

Tour of Old Sacramento, shopping, refreshments and dinner are planned.

Please weigh in if you are interested, want to volunteer, or just have additional questions.

I vote for the 19th... The wife is flying back from Region 13 aka Florida on the 18th, and I think she would be slightly annoyed if she had to walk home from the airport!

Not trying to hijack the dates or plans, but just some ideas: If you plan it for May 11th and 12th, on saturday the 11th, Sacramento Raceway Park has the grudge match open drag racing that night 6-10pm. On the other hand, on May 18th, the track is open for rental. I don't know the details on cost, and if it doesn't cost too much, we could raise the funds. And on the OTHER hand, on FRIDAY, May 17th, for early arrivals if interested, is a Test-&-Tune (basically open hot-laps i guess) from 6pm-10pm. Just some thoughts. Anyone interested in any of that?

..I stayed at this motel and it was nice, just one block from Old Town Sac. also, I think they have horse drawn carriage for those nice romance evenings...

Smart idea Jeff. You always want a second opinion on anything worth doing right. Tell her there will be plenty of shopping opportunities and other shoppers to help her. Most of us travel with our wife's. it is for our own protection of course. You never know what is going to happen when single women find a group of men on the town with there El Caminos.

While we are on the subject, I see that you list Sacramento among your list of home towns. If you are in that area, can make any suggestions on hotels, restaurants, points of interest, watering holes that we should make sure to visit. I remember Fanny Ann's and the union as being two fine places to rest and rehydrate. Are they still there or is there another place that we should check out? Any suggestions you might have would be welcomed.

Well, i listed Sacramento, Stockton and Sanfrancisco just to narrow down the part of California i'm in, for those out-of-stater's that might not know where Tracy is. But old town sacramento has plenty of restaurants, bars, and attractions to keep everyone occupied. Old town isn't really all that big(it WAS back in the mid 1800's though), so its an easy place to hang out and spend some time without feeling like you're sitting still in some gigantic city. Its pretty nice. I'll do alittle web searching for some attractions in old town and throw out ideas here. Any ideas on a meet up spot? a park parking lot or something open like that?

Good question. I think we find a Hotel, perhaps the one that Gilby referenced, to meet and park. Last time I was in Sac, there was no parking on the streets of old town. Once we park, we can pick up stragglers by having Danny station himself at the designated watering hole. As a director he knows all the rules about setting up the base camp.

Uhhhh Dude...Make sure that you get your better half returned from among them Texicans in Region 13 first! Florida is still Region 6. We can't double or triple because you both outnumber us...All that aside...Sounds like a great meet!
