Default Dream Truck

I have always loved El Camino's. Recently I inherited my grandfathers white 1980 El Camino a year or so after he passed away. He was a retired US Air force airplane mechanic and he loved this truck. Unfortunately it wasn't touched for a year or more after he died and it currently doesn't run. It needs some love so I am looking to do a solid over haul real soon.

A year is not so bad. Should take little effort to get it going again if nothing serious was wrong with it before it was parked .

My uncle left me his old Ranchero when he passed in 07.
The car just sat in his garage for 5 years with a full tank of fuel.
When I finally got it to Texas in '11, I had to boil out the fuel tank, replace the rear wheel cylinders (and brakes) replace fuel pump and rebuild the carb.
Car ran absolutely great for a year, but my "spirited" driving of this thing finally killed it. (awaiting new engine now)

Where are you in Texas? A lot of us are here in Texas, and I think most guys would be more than glad to give a youngster a hand.

HankyPank60, welcome to El Camino Central, the internet home of the National El Camino Owners Association!

You've found the best source on the web for all things El Camino, not to mention the collective wisdom of over 23,000 fellow Elky owners and/or enthusiasts!
Since you are in Texas, I want to let you know that there is a forum just for Texas Elky owners that will help keep you informed about shows, meets, track events, cruises, you name it. If it involves playing with our favorite 4 wheeled toy, we talk about it! The forum is here: http://www.elcaminocentral.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=44
Please stop by, and if there is anything I or any of my deputy directors can do to help you out, let us know. Hope to meet you sometime!

Glenn Lee
Director, Region 13 (TX)
