Default Update on '83 gauge gremlins

Went under the hood and pulled home run wires to the (removed) gauge cluster (temp and oil pressure) from ignition power, sensor, and ground. Key on - everything looked good. Cranked and started engine and gauges read (reasonably) normal. Decided to bypass printed circuit connections with home runs to the gauges installed in place in the instrument pod and quit trying to figure out where the problem is (was). Will report back if this doesn't work.
