Default Cadillac El Camino ranchero???

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/4130309451.html
Cadillac El Camino ranchero extremely rare 68 (Bellevue Wa) (Bellevue Wa)

this is a Cadillac El Camino ranchero is an extremely rare vehicle this is one of three that were ever made this is believed to be the only surviving example it is an incredible condition the theme of this car is read on black the interior is leather the car has been in a storage for 25 years it was last registered in 1988 I have shown a photograph of the odometer reading a picture is worth 1000 words (such understated elegance) you'll see the same thing when you look at the photographs can you imagine this car at a tailgate party you'd be the talk of the crowd, I would be happy to discuss this car with any serious collector this type of vehicle at auction would bring between 60 and $70,000 my phone number is 425 637 90 four four just ask about the Cadillac Location: Bellevue
$60 to $70???

I wanna call bs, but...it looks really, really clean. Like, if it was cobbled together with a bunch of parts, they did a really good job.

Seen the flower cars that look similar but I don't think they had an operational tail gate.

That roofline is just screaming 69 Monte Carlo
The bed floor is obviously from a 68-72 Elky
Tailgate looks to be hand formed and also seems
to be using a release handle that did not show up until 1973.

Not a bad looking car really-----if 3 were built, they were done by a small
custom shop----that thing did not come from a well established coachbuilder.

Let's play guess the motor?

Available Engines for 1968 from 3
Cad: 472
Ford: 289,302,390,427,428
Chev: 307,327,396,427

Anybody have a guess?

I guess the 472 because it's primarily a caddy frame/body it looks like

That car=

But good craftsmanship.

Well I think its and Eldorado, so I have to go with the 472 if that's all they offered that year. It would be one bad front tire fryer!

after looking at these pics, some things just appear "off" to me.

this is a Caddy? and yet it has...

-fugly wheel covers
-a "pasted on" front hood ornament, not free-standing?
-trailer towing side mirrors?
-tie down rails that don't properly match the length of the bed
-has an obvious droop in the passengers side headlight cover (vacuum leak, no doubt)
-some weird "pylons" next to each wheel well in the bed
-red/black interior that matches the red/black pimped-out paint job
-he calls it an El Camino Ranchero?

one of 3 made? more like it took 3 cars to make 1 of these

check these out!

ooooooooooo, a Crew Cab El Camino !

now THIS is really cool! a 58 Nomad wagon with flip-up rear window...El Nomado!

Just someones Wet Dream custom...

Nice work, but nothing anybody but the builder would place that kind of value on...
Now, if it were a concept car with some kind of factory history then it would be something special...to someone...

Bottom line on all of these odd examples...
We love these cars, and if we don't like it...Crush it!

That is obviously a flower car. The post next to wheel wells were mounts to hold family crest and sometimes flags and other stuff. The tail gate is a 4th gen elky! It is front wheel drive 68 El Dorado with 472, and the roof line is original to the El Dorado. I had a '70 26 years ago, and miss it a lot, but the gas mileage was in the 12mpg range.
