78 Elk | I painted the brackets that hold the center armrests for the 60/40 bench seat. My wife made the covers that are on it in 2005. We are recovering them to match the rest of interior.

Resto-rod I just finished resto-rodding my 59 a few days before the 60th anniversary get together in Arlington. I installed a 2013 5.3L/6L80 driveline, 4wdb (hydoboost), 17inch American torq thrust, vintage air, interior, paint, gps/backup camera. It was a three year project, frame off. Pictures at 59elco. |

crazywolfie | tried cleaning/oiling the drivers side door latch/solenoid and any moving parts in the drivers door. i think the latch might be working a bit better but pretty sure i am going to have to pull it and give it a proper cleaning to fix the issue since it looks like the solenoid is working as it should when i am having issues. also cleaned out any tools, gassed it up and put it into storage for the winter. we will see if i feel like doing much more to it over the winter.

78 Elk | I painted the plastic brackets that go around the headrest with SEM light Oak. They were red. My wife made covers back in 2005 that were red. We are changing the covers on the headrests to match door panels and visors.

JerRol79ELC | What a process to replace my oil pan. After pulling the 4 speed, bellhousing, clutch, etc. I had to remove the starter and the passenger side header to remove the passenger side motor mount bolt. Now in the process of sanding the passenger side header for repainting and then lift the engine to remove the driver side header for repainting, then finally change the pan while the engine is lifted...

Now the fronts match the rears. In what can best be described as a complete waste of money, I swapped out my ‘68 factory disc brakes for a set of Wilwood disc brakes. Ever since adding the Strange rear with the Wilwood discs things just didn’t look proper with the big cast iron calipers up front. So to protect my fragile ego... |

Hold it, sorry. I just remembered. With my 327 I had a drone sound coasting down around 1200 RPM's and lower. When I swapped the 5.3, it was good after that. Thrush, 2-1/2" about 24" long. The 327 had stock cast iron manifolds. The 5.3 has 2014 Camaro iron manifolds. Not sure if it was the manifolds or the engine that took away the drone. |
