Yes, there's a round nut with bumpy edges (don't know how else to describe it) that goes on top of the plastic piece that tightens it down to the fender then the antenna screws down on top of it.

I just got a set from Mikes Montes today, $17.99 on fleabay with free shipping. They look just like the originals and fit great. NOT a cheap piece of crap. They're made just like the originals.
