History
This Elky was found and purchased in 2003 from a retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant who lived in Beaufort, South Carolina. While on a trip through the south heading to Florida I saw it sitting in a parking lot with a for sale sign hanging on it. I bought it and had it shipped home back to Chicago where I lived at the time. As it still had the USMC Base Pass Sticker on the windshield,(and still does) all my car club buddies began to call it Beaufort and that's how my Elky got it's name. Beaufort now has a Illinois license plate that also identifies it as Beaufort. Poor Beaufort had a number, to many to elaborate, of problems in many of it's systems which included major electrical, heating and air, glass, major drive train and I could go on! With the help of friends and information from El Camino Central, I jumped a lot of hurdles and as of 2020 all these issues have been replaced or repaired and I am now driving Beaufort like......I stole it!
