My ‘83 El Camino

My ‘83 has one headlight on each side but supposedly they started putting two on each side in 1982 ???

That was the first thing I noticed. I thought the single headlight ended in 1981. I have a 1981 and it and all the parts books indicate a single headlight. My 1982 has two headlights. That is a head scratcher. Unless the front was wrecked and they put a 79-81 front grill and lights on. Some of the single headlight parts are hard to impossible to find. ~P

Yes they are hard to find. I am needing a headlight retaining ring and have been trying for 2 months to find one but they are “Out of stock” . But I have seen a few places where they say they will have some soon so I guess they are reproducing them again .
