Purchased from the Alabama back hills in early 2012. Had been sitting neglected for a long time. Trailered back to Florida, and began to search out its challenges. Son is learning a lot as we go through the repair and improvements.
1974 Chevrolet El Camino (Red)
New edelbrock intake manifold & carburetor & fuel pump installed. Runs sweet, may change cam shaft later on.
Retangular instrument cluster being changed out to round style. Dash cap going into cover cracked top. Replacement glove box located & will be fitted. New floor panels acquired to replace rusted out floor, already welded in, awaiting paint. Bench seat can hopefully be saved & reinstalled. New carpets on order will near complete interior.
Full take down to bare metal, bondo & rust being removed, new metal being welded in before prime, paint & clear coat. Going from red to charcoal grey. New windscreen, door, side window seals, new door hinge pins & bushings to be fitted. Lastly new 2 1/2 headers arrived, custom 2 1/2 exhaust to be fitted complete with flow master mufflers.
Now touched as yet, but new universal joints will likely be required.
No modifications as yet.
Wheel and Tire
New rims & tires fitted, old tire dry rotted, & existing rims damaged by precious owner trying to take off due too loose studs.
