My son's flawless 1968 El Camino was recently destroyed by fire while we were driving in a remote area near La Grange, Texas. The AC switch shorted and a fire started behind the dash. By the time we pulled over the flame were coming through the vents. We did not have a fire extinguisher and we were 20 miles from the nearest town, all we could do was watch it burn. The electrical systems in our Elkys are old and may have problems you don't even know about. Please learn from our tragedy and buy a fire extinguisher to keep in your Elky. Don't let this happen to you.
