Hi

I have a 1968 El Camino with a 307 engine. The car is completely stock. The transmission has 3 speed column shift. The car has been sitting for a while and the transmission does not move when engaged, but after a few seconds it will go forward. Same issue with reverse. Greatly appreciate any advice on where to start to repair the issue.Cheers!

For transmission problems,Trannymike is the bloke you need to talk to.

Do the simple checks first, fluid level & color as well as smell. Have you had it on the road? Does it shift right?

Sounds like some seals and o rings may have gotten hard from sitting and lack of use.
there are conditioners you can add to tje trans fluid but mlst times when it starts acting up...its not long till it needs rebuilt...
