I had my Rochester carburetor on a 1981 305 rebuilt, and it was returned to me with a different top plate. The new top plate does not have a connection for one of the hoses, and the guy that rebuilt it says it is not needed. I'm hoping someone out there can help me identify the component that was originally connected to the carburetor so I can understand the reasoning behind why I'm being told it's not needed. In the picture, it is the red device with the short hose. This is a 1981 Elky built in California with a smog pump. Just trying to validate that the hose does not need to be connected before I completely re-install the carburetor.
