I
If your trans pan does not have a drain plug, can you add one?
i probably could, good idea ! However I Want this to be last time ever messin w/trans, burnin out kinda, want to be done. FYI - I ordered IAC &TPS from Summit, they had AC/Delco parts, had a shop warn me bout aftermarket junk partsthat could be causing issues @ hand. Process of elimination again Grrrrrr! Keep yous posted. Thank You
If you're willing, I'd love to know the part numbers you're planning for this. I'm in sort of the same boat and would love to make as much better as I could while I was in there(the trans is having some issues so my intention is not just to replace parts for no reason).
I priced the TCC for 48.00 @ orielly, might have been napa, But will check Summit as they carry some AC Delco parts. Not sure on part # yet but will post when i get there. I stick to genuine gm going forward. I like the drain plug idea.

I found TCC for 48.00 @ orielly ? napa ? But Summit Racing has some AC delco parts will check them and post #'s when i get there. I Like drain plug idea.
I second Wayne's suggestion. I just added one to my 200 4R. Got it at Oreilly's for $7.

OK,I must have been asleep but what are you calling the TCC ? Are you talking about the TCC "solenoid",if so 48 bucks is too much. I bought one from Transtar here in Raleigh for about 15 bucks. 919-834-2581 ,and they also have sales warehouses thruout the country. Heres another one from Ebay ,TCC Solenoid 2004R / 700R4 / 4L60E / 4L65 Splice in style
Yes, TCC Solenoid. Wow ! 15.00, I'll keep shoppin, chgo. pricing ! Grrrr Thank You !

Is 15.00 too high ??
NO. Thats a wow cause so cheap. Keep shopping meant look for better deals than usual local pricing ! Thanx Wayne
Do you really think you're getting US parts just because it has Delco on the title and box ?? Look at where its made . A rep for Delco told me face to face that these parts come from everywhere ! The only way to make sure you are getting a US made part is to go thru the dealer/sellers stock and hope you get US made. The days of getting only US made "genuine" GM parts is GONE ! Transtar is a reputable supplier and used by a ton of trans builders. I put a new solenoid in my trans when I pulled the pan to change filters years ago and it is fine with Transfer part.
Got it ! Im not namebrand guy usually but @ wits end w/this issue. I tested old part tps , checks ok. Gimme that Engine lite and point me. Aint Got No. I will install a tach. Vital part when you want to check rpm for lock up disengage/brake. I cant tell when i tap brake, drafty windows/road noise , whew. Y'all have helped me alot, old dog learnin new tricks. Thanx

"see RPM rise when brake tapped & lockup disengages "
==
When in forth and TCC locked up. A rise in RPM when brake is tapped and (TCC) Torque Converter Clutch disengages is what we would expect for normal operation.
I couldnt tell w/o tach. When locked up @ 45+ mph it felt like a slip or a cut in/out ? I replaced alot of gas/electrical parts on tbi.(see my other posts) Still acted up, unplug the tcc on side of trans & although rpm higher(normal) it didnt gimme that slip/cut. Is that how a bad tcc would act old bear? Feels like a wire ground out. Got my fingers crossed. Thanks

That is what I would expect with TCC wires unplugged at the transmission.
With no signal going in, it would not cause the TCC solenoid to engage.
Without being locked up at 1:1 by the TCC, there would be some fluid speed difference and the RPM would be a little higher on the tach. On mine it was about 200 RPM higher.
However, we are not yet sure if it is fluctuating signal coming in, or the solenoid inside the lower trans.

I think the trans shop that repaired mine turned the truck off.
I think Dave put power to the correct wire(s) to activate the solenoid to hear if it clicked on and held or if it bounced on and off. I don't remember if he heard it. I think with trans pan dropped he could hear it.

Hopefully someone will know if that is a useful additional test.

Also, how do the connections on the multi wire plug look where you disconnected from the trans?
May be a bit ugly (that 3 wire plug) prongs are there, i will test w/ohm meter and may splice in new wire w/female bullet connectors to be 100% sure. Will do brake lite switch if necessary after test drive as when stopping (sometimes) car want to forge ahead. Gettin Close , sure have learned lots, whew ! Thank You 4 input. Wish i went this direction 1st.
