305 vs 350 starters

Is there any difference between the starters? Are the interchangable? If not can one be installed by mistake and work for a while before going bad?

hey thanks --- have my 64 in the shop - something about it having the wrong starter and not long enough to engage properly - thus the occasional non-start "clunks" - still also trying to determine which motor it is -- 305 or 350 ---- hopefully the shop can tell me that also. bubba out ----
