That looks like that cam is a good fit for the 383 Matteo. Have you thought about just a little more rear gear? Like a 3:23 ? Should not hurt mileage and give you a bit more bottom end punch. Be Sure to check push rod lenghts as well.

Good luck with the mouse motor, ( 383 )

Nothing like a Rat motor ( BBC 496 )
And a 496 is nothing compared to a 572---what's your point?

Thanks for the confirmation on the cam.
I've definitely considered a slightly shorter gear when I change the rear out. That's a road I was waiting to take until I settled on a an engine build, and blow out the gears.
Push rods lengths have been added to my check list !

Different strokers for different folks.

383 is a nice engine.

Should we start calling anything over 500 CI a rabbit. Just another big toothed oversize rodent.

I guess we could call a 632 CI a capybara.

Thank you!!

Notice that the link for your heads is for a single head. $600 ea or $1,200/pair
Dart SHP 127122 Assembled Aluminum heads, 64cc, https://www.summitracing.com/oh/part...7122/overview/

Notice that this link for Brodix IK 180 (aluminum heads) are for a pair. $1,000/pair
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/bro-1021005?rrec=true

I did not check all the other head specs.
I just ran through the specs on the heads and if I had the extra $200 I would go with the Dart. The specs on them appear a little better.

Will the Brodix be a good head for that build? Perfectly.

A little port matching will probably be needed on either.

With the rest of the engine built for 2500 and above you could use a little more intake. Also that one says cast iron heads only in the notes.

And 383 vs. 496? Who cares.

Could you please elaborate on this?
Will the little bit more intake give me more at low rpms?
What intake would you consider a better fit and why?o
Thank you!!

hey Matteo
that intake is for the 87up head intake bolt pattern, but it will still work with some drilling/mods..
I would probly go with a Spread Bore/QJet intake, some of the adapters are just junk/PITA to seal..

:texas:
Glad to see you are still around JJ.

Thanks for the info.
I'll look for another intake. Should I stick with dual planes?

To post a little update.
I just got my block back from the machine shop last Friday.

He bored it over another .01, plated honed, align honed, etc etc etc... everything looks excellent. He set up my piston rings for me too, installed the wrist pins and rods, etc etc..

I bought some mahle forged pistons (nice pistons!!), scat stroker rods, scat cast 9000 crank, king bearings. He balanced everything for me.

I just need to buy an engine stand so I can do some painting and do the final assembly of the short block!

Pics coming soon!!! Woo!
