I've put in a new pump and filter and injectors. Also put in plugs , wires , cap and rotor and a new ignition control module. And a new coil. Not sure what else to do? Any ideas...?

I'm not really sure. It's the original setup. It's an 87. I know I replaced throttle position sensor. If that helps.

dark / black and sooty is rich..

I have seen the TBI 4.3s run super rich if the Coolant Temp Sensor
is bad or disconnected.. the computer stays in choke mode -rich,,
it fouls the plugs purty quick..

JJ makes a good suggestion about coolant temp sensor...it is located at front of intake manifold near radiator connection.

Here's a long shot...I had a similar no start situation many years ago on my 92 S-10 with TBI. Turned out to be that CTS wire had a break and was faulty due to bending back and forth. Insulation on outside of wire was good but contact and signal wasn't getting thru to ECM. Motor would crank and crank...but no start.

Good luck!

X2 usually you get a code a day or 2 before
CTS - has been cold too long,, or O2 sensor - rich codes

some said the injectors are big for a V6,
and they foul the plugs purty quick when it thinks the motor is cold,,
fouls the O2 sensor and the CAT too..

pull the Dip Stick and see if it smells like Gas..

Was it working well before changing parts? Were you just doing a tune up? Did you check and set the voltage on the TPS when you installed it? If the TPS is not set right, the ECM chart settings will not match up correctly with the other sensors for start and run conditions (MAPS, Temp, etc.)
