The 427 tall-deck is a truck motor, from what I've learned. A friend has one in his farm truck. Intake manifold would be different I believe, and the distributor would be taller.. You may want to do some research into that.

I always figured that the long rods were for sustained RPM (not high RPM) in trucks. The long rods reduce side loads on the pistons, with less rod angle.
An engine that big wouldn't require really high RPM to make good power though...
