The '68 I just got has been sitting a while.

Runs well, but I need working gauges and turn signals to be able to drive it.

Emergency flashers work correctly.
Turn lamps light when selected, but do not flash.
Flasher can, or switch in the column?

Gas gauge does not appear to work, easiest way to confirm if it's the gauge or the sender?
Source for replacement 68 fuel gauge, or at least the face plate?

Location for a second water temp sender?
Previous owner put in a mini-gauge set, but they are cheap crap and falling apart.
For the time being I would like to reconnect the idiot light in addition to the after-market temp gauge.

Anyone have a pic of the SS gauge cluster?
Ecklers has them, a bit pricey but probably cleaner than the Sunpro mini-gauge junk.

$4.00 flasher can and now the turn signals work!

Now, about that gas gauge?

It's the little victories that can make your day! I believe the fuel guages work on a variable voltage. You might get a multi- meter to test the voltage at the connection when full, and then when it is not full to compare and see if the sender works. Someone else may have a dirrerent suggestion

If the gas gauge goes way past full when you unhook it at the tank, then the gauge is good.

Good stuff! Pics & gauge test.

Better pics than any of the parts houses had.

That tach is a surprise!
Never expected a vertical read-out in '68.

So, the $350.00 units being sold are not actually correct as implied?

Good reminder on the fuel gauge, I should have remembered that.

The tach is a 1 year only, they go for around $1000.00 on Evilbay with no warranty!!!!!!!:let_it_all_out:
They look cool but not in a good spot to be useful, but I wouldn't give it up.:nanawrench:

Another question, driving lights!

I notice two unused rectangular holes in the front bumper.

We need GOOD lights here, logts of critters waqndering around on the road.
Seems those holes should be filled with driving lights!
Anyone know of a good driving or fog lamp that fits well?
Mounting?

OK, at 1/4 on the gauge = Out of gas!

Fuel gauge is sort of working.

Wildly inaccurate, but the needle does move.

Just above 1/4 tank is really empty, full tank reads above the scale.

More likely the gauge, or the sender?
Car sat about ten years, with stale gas in the tank.
