Good morning,
I have had my car in the shop now for about a month, the car is now running but is not driveable because apparently my steering shaft is broken and I need to replace it, how often if at all does this happen? I have not moved the car in 5 years previous to it being in the shop, so it makes no sense to me how this happened.

In 2012 we moved to our new home from Las Vegas to North Las Vegas about a 20 mile drive. I drove the car there with no issues, this is why it's weird that now I need a steering shaft.

So could this happen?? If so, how?

Thank you

Pez

I don't know, I am pulling my car out of there today to get a better idea, once I get it I will be able to see what we are dealing with.

Rag joint. Mine went backing into the garage. Originally thought a tie rod had fallen off. I guess after 50 some years something is entitled to fail. Lucky it broke in a convenient location.
