Hello everyone.... I have a 04 5.3 swapped in a 81 el co...the only way the thing will start is if I put a screw driver on the solenoid and battery prongs on the starter....I believe is a misaligned ignition switch and neutral safety switch ( stock column shift) ...before I put the new column mounted neutral safety switch on I removed the old column mounted one and cleaned it and put it back and the car would turn on and rev but only if I turned and held the key now with a new ignition switch and new column mounted neutral safety switch I get nothing... you guys have any tips on how to align them? I’ve been at it for a while now trying different ways to get it aligned but still no luck.

do you have the 2 big purple wires on the Neutral Safety Switch that
go to the ignition switch and "S" terminal on the starter solenoid??
you can bypass the NSS for testing, just tie the 2 purple wires together with a jumper..
.
the ignition switch will ether have a pin/button on top that will lock the slide
or you use a 1/8" drill bit thru the hole in the top to lock it while you mount it,
I believe the key/lock cylinder should be in off/lock when you mount it..
