Problem: Engine does not crank in Park or Neutral
I turn the key to start and the radio, fan do not turn on.
Under dash fuses are okay.
Headlights and interior lights are fine.
I don't think this is related, but removed the ECM and wiring on Saturday.
The ECM behind the kick panel had 4 white plugs that I disconnected.
Nothing under the hood was connected, just bundled.
I only dealt with the wires passing through 1 grommet on the lower firewall, not the heater/AC wire bundle.
Drove on Saturday night through today.
Had a problem on Monday. Car cranked, but would not start.
I disconnected the HEI tach wire and it ran. I've reconnected the wire
and my tach reads about 2,500 rpm higher than it should when I should be turning at 2,000 rpm when accelerating it reads about 4,500.
Had not done anything with timing, distributor etc.
Finally, the complete HEI was replaced about 2 months ago.
Any suggestions on where to look?
