Greetings ECC, I have an 1986 stock with factory A/C. Gauge reads full but the air that comes out is warm. I hear the compressor engage/disengage. I was told that there may be air in the line and that I should get it evac but I would love to hear some more recommendations

Unless the system has been opened up to atmosphere, it should have no air/water in the system. Does the compressor engage and stay engaged for at least 20-30 seconds, or longer? If not, the low pressure switch is probably kicking off, meaning you need more freon. If the compressor is engaging, check the temp of the inlet and outlet pipes at the firewall. They should be close to the same temp, and cold. If they are cold, then I would check the Air Dampener bracket, behind the glove box and high. It is controlled by the temp cable on the HVAC control. Move the control, and see if the bracket rotates properly. Full cold should have the door all the way closed. If it is not closed, hot air will mix with cold air.
