If you cannot get the old switch out, replace with new in the new compressor. It is a High Pressure cutout switch, it's primary purpose is to save the compressor, hoses and system in the event of an over charge, retriction or an air flow issue. Do not just ground the wire as you are defeating the purpose of the protection it provides. Ever have a a dischrge hose blow on you while under the hood?
I have, it isn't fun.
