I want to abandon my lower two tone trim. They are just high maintenance.

I will repaint afterwards. Anyone have success with this conversion? Tips? Will the wells look good, smooth?

When you remove that trim, you'll find there are tiny pegs spot welded to the body. If you're going to repaint, it shouldn't be much of a problem to grind them off and prep the spots. That's what I did on my '81.

Thats what I did to mine. Grind off the stubs and weld or fill in the holes. Not hard at all.
