Sorry to hear this. He did a lot of good with his success. I bought a 67 GT350 new for $4250. I wish I had never sold it. Very dumb move on my part. Shelby was a very cool guy.RIP.

Not today---but last night.
It was just announced this morning.

Sad to see him go, an icon in the automotive and medical fields.

There are no more of the ledgends left. We now have no more great car builders helping the Big Three produce performance factory cars. We are stuck with our own imagination as what we want to drive, its performance and driveability until the Occupiers, Tree Huggers and Politicians step in and kill our hobby. I'd rather build an older pre 1987 car or truck than make 650 a month payments for 60 months on some lame, front wheel drive, plastic bumperless wonder mobile !!!! :secret:

do any of you remember the Dodge Daytona front wheel drive that Shelby did in the early 80's when he was with Dodge/Chrysler? Just thought of those from back in the day.

The man took on the best competition the world had to offer and beat them at their own game.
Here's an article and an interesting video from the Detroit News:
http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120512/AUTO0102/205120321/1148/auto01/Idea-man-Carroll-Shelby-auto-legend

My favorite line of his was when he was invited to be the guest speaker at the Shelby Owner's Club for the 25th anniversary of the Shelby Mustang. It was 1990, and he had just had his heart transplant.
His reply read: "I was planning on attending your meeting, but then I had a change of heart"

RIP Carroll.
