Bit off more than I can chew on an engine swap 1994 GM 5.7 tbi to a 86 or 87 GM 5.0 carb

This is going to be a lot of questions. First question will the 94 GM 5.7 starter bolt up and work properly for the 86 or 87 GM 5.0 casting number 14088551 the motor has three bolt holes for the starter, the 94 starter only takes two bolts and second question since I'm eliminating the computer system or brain whatever you want to call it, will the 94 GMC transmission work with the the new 5.0 motor will the transmission know when to shift gears without the brain or computer or will I have to get a manual transmission? I have more questions but I'll leave it at that for now. Help please:eek:

You're going to have to find a starter that will actually bold up correctly otherwise it can mess it up and you'll have to shim the starter after a while. For the transmission no it would know when to shift so at that point it would be easier and less time consuming to mani swap it. This my opinion on the matter but I can guarantee that you'll get more insight from others here.

I have a performance part place close to my house they told me that they sell I guess we can call it a conversion kit to where I would shift the gears manually on the automatic transmission and it would be a lot cheaper I've already put the HMI distributor and also made it to where it runs off an inline fuel pump because the TBI fuel pump pushes out too much pressure I put a Edelbrock performer series intake manifold and I also put an Edelbrock performer series carburetor have you ever heard anything about this conversion kit?

I myself haven't heard anything about the conversion kit, I know my friend was talking about putting a sequential shifter in his car that he's basically doing the same thing in but I haven't asked him how it's going.
You will need a new intake and a non-computer distributer to convert the TBI to using a carb. You will need a starter for a 94 and and the transmission can be re-worked like described in the enclosed article. Hope that helps.
