Body Mount Bolt nuts

233 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  84Pacecar
Well I started to repair the frame rail on the driver side of my 86 Elky. One bolt was snapped off and the other one snapped off when I tried to take it out. I noticed the nuts are encased in side the body. What does a guy have to do to get to them? And where can I get the nuts to replace the ones that are messed up? I have order a bolt kit and bushing kit for the car already.

The diamond shaped captive nuts are available from and of the G Body parts suppliers. Ecklers, OPGI, Mikes Monties, Dixie, etc. I used a 1” hole saw on the inboard side of the mounting “box”. Fished rod coaxed the broken parts out. Saved the “slug” and welded it back in when done reassembling. Another option is to cut a “flap” with a cut off wheel, bend it open for access, weld shut when done

What are these called? I searched for them but never could find them anywhere.
Is possible to spray liquid wrench or ? On the piece of bolt left in the nut and use a easy out to remove it. I would try that first
