while i would love to send the nay-sayers a pic, all the cars are gone. let me be clear.....original carb (e4me), distributor, computer hooked up. I only worked on 86-87 vehicles. All were gutted of emission stuff except egr was left with sensor otherwise would throw code. The last truck 86...even had a slightly larger cam installed with better low end torque off the line that felt like a rear gear change. All with the original carb, distributor, and computer all functioning.
As a seasoned tech this may not be feasible with the normal backyard mechanic who is a parts changer. I had 4 trucks this was done on and all ran excellent.

those were links to E4ME pics in my last post..
sometimes its hard to tell a link from just a underline..
.
.
SMOG
[ air pump, AIR/injection pipes/hoses, EFE vac or solenoid depending in year,
vapor can/purge valve, PCV, CAT, ]
I think the big question on the smog delete is how deep you can go
before you have to get a chip tuned and burned to get rid of the CEL
and it still work when you need it, when keeping the ECM..
.
the
carb MCS/TPS, CTS, O2, MAP/BARO depending on year
distributor /ESC or EST, knock sensor depending on year,
are needed for the ECM to work..
maybe VSS/TCC depending on trans or year?? not sure ??
EGR can be deleted or at least the cel turned off with a chip..
Darbysan mentioned the EGR temp switch, maybe a 87 thang??
I cant remember ever seeing one, never had that problem..
I have seen pics, so I know there real..
