I have a 1982 el camino . It has 120,000 miles and is a v6 231 ci. I just recently got my carb rebuilt because it was running rich. Then I got my car back and it was running lean. I figured out the lean condition when I noticed my main fuel line was leaking fuel. In the mean time of this I knew my choke was getting stuck in the mornings. I fixed the lean condition in the afternoon and it ran great. This morning I went to start it up and it started fine with the choke on. Then I tried to kick down the choke and it wouldn’t kick down. I was running late to work so I had to run my car with the choke on and butter fly valve a quarter closed. On my way to work I got a check engine light assuming I was running rich because the valves were closed so I was messing with the linkage and got it to open now I have no check engine light and I’m idling fine. I guess my question is why is my choke getting stuck and making me run rich ??
