Hi I have bought a 83 elcamino was told it was a ss but upon inspection i have other thoughts! http://elcaminocentral.com/images/smilies/dontknow.gif looking thru build tags i am seeing different on mine. can some one please help me decipher mine? Thanking you all for any help!

SS option would not show on cowl tag, only listed on RPO list. Should be on the glove box door. Look for Z-15.

Only other way vehicle could be "classified" as an SS is if it went through Choo Choo Customs.

5th Gen SS is only decals

142561 = body number
60B = trim color Lt. Sand gray
15L = lower body color silver sand poly
19M = middle body color black
15U = upper body color silver sand poly
L = Lacquer
AM6 = 55-45 seat

The RPO list in glove box was for 86-87 only . Before that you must find the build sheet or you can contact GM Heritage by Allied/Vaughn . I got mine for 50 bucks & it is a Z 15 SS.

cowl tag decoder please

My '84 has the metal cowl trim tag mounted on the firewall. Also this decal was attached to the inside of the glove box door.
