Does anyone have a recommendation on a dash replacement. Installing a dash cover or replacing the unit completely. What is the quality of ether option. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I called the psychotic hot line lady and she said ... 1984 ,,
but she's only right 8 out of 5 times,, that's what she said...
Sorry about that . The lady on the psychotic hot line was right this time !!!!!!!!!!!! It is a 1984.......

Here are some instructions on how to install a dash cap

84 El Camino Rebuild and Simular Stuff: Dash pad cover installation

Now there are half caps and full caps. How well it will turn out is up to how much work you are willing to do.
I probably would do the full cap if I were going that route. This was it look complete with no seem.
I know that there is now a company that is making new dash pads now. Let me see if I can find them. But they are not going to be cheap.
There was a company in California that would rebuild your dash-pricey. Don't forget there is probably shipping on the pads plus maybe painting it to the color your want.

It boils down to how much work you want to do or how much money you want to spend.
