Runs great when moving. When stopped, rpm goes down and engine stalls. If I flip to neutral, rpm stays up. Non-ECC, Carter q-jet (Mountain Man made), Performer q-jet split level intake. I can have the idle at one rpm one day upon starting, and another rpm on another day upon starting. When I'm driving and stop, I have to flip to neutral, or the engine dies. I've tried to minutely adjust the carb (as it's supposed to be right when I got it), and adjust the timing a little. No change. Initial timing is 8-9*. Vacuum is about 12 inches. Oh, 350 stock engine with non-ECC HEI.

Their is no such thing as a preadjusted carb, all engines require there own slight adjustments. Has it been this way since you installed? put a tach on it and adjust to your engine specs.
