Short notice. San Diego is having a cruse night ( 30 April) in El Cajon. Main St. & Magnolia, with a El Camino Vs. Ranchero night. Starts @ 5PM until 8PM. It helps to be as early as you can be. I'll be there around 3:30 ish. Lets go have some fun.

My Ranchero Gt, 429 4~spd.. matched my Gran Torino sport 429 4-spd. Both were gold with the lazer stripe.. brown bucket seats w/console. You're right about the gas I filled the Torino up every day. I lived in Chelsea, OK and worked in Tulsa. That's 125 miles daily and the 25 gal tank was always heading towards empty. I loved that Ranchero. But I like my 5th gen just as much now.. its a survivor but it still gets plenty of thumbs up and guys remembering when they had one.."wish i'd never sold it" is the most common statement. That's why I'm never selling this one.

The last real FORD I owned was one I got free from a brother in-law. It was a '63 Fairlane mid-size car, with the first gen FOrd small block, a wopping 221 cubic inch V8, which went to 260, then 289 etc. Owned it in '74/'75. Then in '75, flew a Grumman Albatros to Texas, where the owner had a '73 El Camino he wanted to sell me, so I drove it home....my first Elco !

Had that one for only 2 years, & traded it for a new '77..

If I remember correctly, the four-stroke engine ( which we always called the four cycle engine ) was the "Otto-cycle" , named from it's inventor (?)

I think I saw a picture of Otto with his new invention and his assistant looked a lot like Lockjaw.. before he joined the USMC. :cool4:
