Is it possible that my engine cuts off because there is to much pressure leaking out from headers? I recently took off the boilers that were connected to my headers. By doing that 1. It makes my engine sound super loud! 2. It makes my engine bay look a lot cleaner 3. My engine cuts in idle. So my question is, can I plug those holes with bolts or do I have to get new headers that don't have holes in them?

Plug em up you've got no back pressure. I've found pipe plugs generally fit. If their the cast manifolds fastenal carries a special plug with a blowout valve specifically for this too. Don't know how necessary that valve actually is though.

Do you know what size I would use? To plug the holes that is.

Are they the cast manifolds or headers? The headers on my 350 use I want to say a 3/8 pipe cap and their edelbrocks. My 351 ford I used either a 5/8 or 3/4 blowout plug from fastenal i think. The other chevy had a plug that was a bit smaller maybe a half inch? I took the ford manifold to fastenal and they found what I needed for me. You could just go to home depot and buy a half dozen different size pipe plugs and return what you don't use. Just if you use pipe plugs make sure you get black iron plugs rather than brass. The brass plugs expand more and will crack the manifold.

recently removed the AIR pump and tubing to my stock 82 exhaust. The plugs used were 1/4" pipe thread plugs. Should be available at a plumbing supply store, or maybe Home Depot.

x2 on the black iron plugs - don't use the galvanized ones Home Depot carries either. Finally just went to plumbing supply store to find the black iron plugs.
