Looking to see if anyone has been running the Hooker mufflers?
Running a BBC 496, hooker super comp headers, and electric exhaust cutouts.

Thanks for the input, Howie

I have Hooker Maximum flow mufflers on a mildly built 350. They sound good, also are a bit louder than I want but WAY better than the drone I used to get from the Flowmaster system.

I disagree. flowmasters super 44s do not have a drone.

any muffler/ exhaust sys will have a drone if not sized properly!

Well, I purchased a complete system (American thunder series with Super 40 mufflers) for a monte carlo and put it on the same size motor and couldn't stand to drive it down the highway. I liked the TONE of the Flowmaster but I guess I just have "sensitive ears". lol

I guess it is all a matter of opinion though.

So the super 40 and 44 of course are in the aggressive and noticeable category, couple that with a thunder series sys that’s to big for the motor it’s going on.

drone doesn’t sound good and can be very annoying.

common rule to exhaust diameter:
Under 400hp 2-2.25” typically s
400hp-500hp 2.25-2.5”
500hp-600hp 2.5-3”
600hp 3” is usually the minimum with or without power adders

adding and H or X pipe is always a good idea👍 And may help with drone possibly

JK, Well said.

taking the time to due the research and math program , takes a little time, some people are not willing to take that time.

anyway, getting closer to color, holly **** Batman, a lot of blocking and sanding.......
but all worth that extra time, for that custom paint job.
have a good holiday.

Big Fan of the Dynomax Super Turbo's nice and deep tone. I have replaced Flows with these before and one in particular car.. 2000 Mustang GT and it had the 50 series "Quiet Flows. Well I could hear my stereo at levels below 75% volume on the highway after swapping them. Performance? No drop. Just pretty much no drone. But sound great when hard on the go peddle. Need an H pipe and plenty loud. Flows sound cool outside but inside they wear you out.
