Found this out and about at the 2022 San Juan Capistrano Car Show.

1981 Ford Durango. Yep, I did not say Dodge Durango.

Features: Ford Fairmont styiling, sun roof, coffin rails, customized cheetah interior, long board and really in good shape for a 1981 that goes to the Pickleball Club meet ups.

I have read there were 212 made from 78-81 by Ford and National Coach Works, located in Los Angeles, California.
The Ford Durango started life as Fairmont 2 door sedans (Mustang (fox) foundations) with 3.3 L 6 cylinders.
A little more.

A 347 stroker, five speed and all the other fox body goodies would make a sweet little parts hauler. I bet you could even swap a Mustang front clip on; I’ve seen a Fairmont wagon with pony wheels and a ‘four eye’ front swap…wasn’t bad for a furd!

a 347 stroker? why bother? just stick a 351W in there and make it a 427 stroker! it's only 1.2 inches taller 😱

Do you happen to have any contact information for the guy? I have been looking for one. Wonder if he would be interested in selling?

@Shaggy87
I have seen it in the next town over a couple of times.
I may cross roads with it again.

Are you still in SE Texas?

Yes I am still in the Houston area. If you ever run across the guy again and wouldn't mind asking, see if he would sell. Be willing to give a finders fee to you for sure. Thanks
Check back in about two weeks.

Pete, Info shared. Possibly you will get a call to talk about the uniqueness of the Ford Durngo this week.

Old Bear, I wanted to get to this show, but the car is not ready. Minor things. Yet again this year I missed the dead line for the Orange Plaza Show. Darn. Maybe I'll go anyway. I liked your take on your bed cover. Lots of work. I was going to do the same thing, with plastic sheets. My cover has been very tight over the years so I did a coin toss and decided not to do the plastic. Be well. BLKDEMN.
