Fired the up the 84 project for the first recently...Still shaking out the cob webs...

Battery connected or not the Fuel & Oil gauges are full scale?

Temp sweeps down when powered up?

Volts is working fine, clock is fine....

I'm chasing grounds...Any ideas?

Need a source for a wiring diagram :dontknow:

Ok, fixed the Fuel sender, bad connection in the rear light harness...

The oil pressure sender is just a Switch?
How does the gauge read pressure??

The coolant temp is on an old 5 Volt circuit through the old computer...Any way to rewire that to work independently???

If it has a oil light it is just a switch. If it is a gauge it is a sending unit. A gauge hooked to a light sending unit will peg as soon as it sees oil pressure.
The ecm used one sending unit for temp the gauge used a separate sending unit usually located in the drivers side head between #1 and # 3 cylinders(green wire).
