The return gas line on my 72 sprint has rotted out . Is it safe to omit the return line ? it was never hooked up to anything anyways .What is the safe way to cap off the line or does it need to be vented ?

Thanks Chris

it should be vented.now is this the vapor line to the charcoal canister or the fuel return from the fuel pump? if it is the fuel pump return you can cap it off at the tank. it was there to help prevent vapor lock.some had it some didnt. if its to the canister it should be hooked up to keep the tank vented and to prevent it from sucking the tank in

Could just use a fuel filter on the line at the rear of the vehicle near the tank. Mount high as possible.

some of the new cars use a roll over vent that works well also to vent and stop fuel leaks
