Hey everyone...

I am on a mad search for 86-88 Monte Carlo SS gauges.. I am after all the gauges with tach... the grey/black faced ones... If anyone knows where I can find them, PLEASE drop me a pm or something... I broke my speedo needle trying to fix a bulb, and my other guages are the stock black ugly ones..lol

While I have the gauges out, I am also planning to swap to some 194 led bulbs to brighten things up...

Thanks in advance...:texas::beer:

There was a place online that was selling them about two years ago. It was like montecarloss.com or montecarlodepot.com or something. I'll try and find the link tonight if the place is even still around

use the 168 bulbs they are brighter than the 194
Pepboys has the 194 leds that are very bright... they have red, amber, blue, and white... I was thinking of the blue, but will probably go with the white ones... or come up with my own lighting idea with one of those led strips... :dontknow:

Hey,
1) Bobsgauges.com will rebuild your speedo.
2) You dont need LEDs or brighter bulbs. LEDs are not dimmable. Get white spray paint for plastic. Paint the BACK side of your cluster cover. A lot of detailed masking. Scotch tape works best.
3) The ElCaminoStore has all the flourescent needle style gauges but the original speedo. Cha $ Ching. Of course, your ride must be rigged for this.

The white paint - Like NIGHT & DAY. I got PRO results. GM used a too dark of blue back there.
Hint - do not touch the lettering on front of your gauges. It will rub off EASILY. Dust them with a soft hair paint brush if you must.
Good luck.

Okay! Here is what I found in my stash:

Speedo with Trip Meter & Cruise harness

Speedo and Trip Meter tested and working. The trip is easy to turn and reset. Colors are still vivid.

Fuel/Volts/Temp/OilPressure

I believe I tested these a when I brought them home and they worked. Colors are still vivid. Came from the same dash as the Speedo.

Tach

Unknown working condition. Colors are faded. Plastic mounting bracket it broken off. If you have one currently, it's an easy swap to put your on.

I too am looking for some Gauges, What I need are Volt, Oil, Coolant, My speed fuel work, Though I'm still trying to get the tach to work. That isn't looking good for the home team. Can't seem to find the filter in the dash. and the tach is wired directly to the dist but no joy.

If anyone has those 3 I'd love to see a pic of them and maybe we can talk about a price with shipping.
